Disability Sports Australia (DSA) is excited to partner with the Y Victoria. The Y will host a Variety Activate Inclusion Sports Day at the Boroondara Disability Sport and Recreation Hub this May.

This will continue the event's strong national growth. The Activate Inclusion Sports Day program is a ground-breaking initiative focused on providing sporting pathways for students with disability aged 5 – 18 years. In 2022, DSA delivered 51 events and engaged over 3500 children nationwide.

Boroondara Sports Complex will host the event. The facility showcases a variety of inclusive programs both the City of Boroondara and the Y Victoria offer to the community.

The Boroondara Disability Sport and Recreation Hub is a key initiative by City of Boroondara and the Y, and is supported by the Victorian Government via the Access for All Abilities initiative.

The day will offer a range of activities to promote future participation in physical activity. The program allows students with disability to identify sports and activities they enjoy. Support and contacts help create ongoing participation and pathways.

These programs encourage and empower children with disability to explore sporting and active recreation opportunities in their local community. They are fun, safe and inclusive.

Activate Inclusion Sports Days, National Program Manager Kristy Rohrer, is delighted to see the continued growth of the program in Victoria with a range of local partners making this possible.

“It is exciting to see the footprint of our Variety Activate Inclusion Sports Days expand across Victoria.

"We look forward to collaborating with local council and the Y Victoria to provide more opportunities for people living with disability to participate in sport and recreation through this program."

Community Activation Manager, Phoebe Di Tommaso, at the The Y Victoria said, “It’s great to have the Variety Activate Inclusion Day being delivered here at the Boroondara Sports Complex.

"It provides a great opportunity for young people to find a range of sporting pathways. We look forward to continuing to provide support to participants and the member sports in the future whilst continuing to collaborate with DSA.”

DSA would like to thank the Y Victoria and City of Boroondara for hosting the event. Additionally, DSA provides thanks to program partners Variety the Children’s Charity Victoria and Matchworks.
