Women with Disability

Disability Sports Australia and Victoria University logo

The purpose

Establish an online group/network for women leaders within disability in sport. The focus is to collaborate on: shared experiences; opportunities for growth and development; career pathways; identify employment opportunities as they arise, and how to build accessible and socially connected inclusive sports communities for people with disability.

Member commitment

We warmly welcome leaders in sport (e.g. current or aspiring coaches, umpires, Directors, senior managers, national program Facilitators) who are women with disability.
Join a free online network that communicates via WhatsApp/email/social media group/other online forums.
Attend three network sessions in 2023 and 2024 with the intention to continue beyond this time

How will it work?

During 2023 and 2024, two or three online professional development sessions will be conducted. These will be based on responses gained from women in the initial network session on their needs. The sessions could involve, although not limited to:

  • Session 1:  Guest presenter to build an identified professional development need

  • Session 2: Internal network session filled with tips and industry connections and to identify the sustainability of the network group through a rotational Facilitator role

  • Session 3 (to be confirmed): Industry network. Invitations sent to national bodies to attend the session and discuss key topics and resources to assist career pathways for women involved in the network

In between these sessions, regular social media communication will occur within the network that may include opportunities for professional development and career opportunities
