Sport that works—for every body.
Every year, thousands of people with disability experience sport through our programs. Together with the sport sector, we create opportunities to participate, belong, and thrive.
The Challenge
Too many Australian’s with disability are still left out of sport- missing out on health confidence and connection.
1 in 5
1 in 5 Australians live with disability, yet many are left on the sidelines — missing out on health, confidence, and connection.
Only 25% of Australians with disability take part in sport or physical activity once a week.
People with disability are 60% less likely to meet national physical activity guidelines compared to people without disability.
Who We Are
Disability Sports Australia (DSA) is a national non-profit and registered charity.
For more than 60 years, we have been at the forefront of disability sport — from our wheelchair sport beginnings to today’s nationwide programs.
Our purpose is clear: every person with disability should be able to participate in sport in the way that works best for them.
By working with the sport sector, we build confidence connection, and inclusion — changing lives through sport.
How We Create Change
We work with all levels of sport to create opportunities for people with disability to participate in the way that best works for them.
Our approach is guided by four key actions that shape everything we do.
Elevate
Promote the value of sport and its positive social impact for people with disability and the community,
Enable
Create opportunities for people with disability to participate meaningfully in grassroots sport.
Equip
Provide sporting organisations with the knowledge, skills and tools to be confidence in engaging people with disability.
Engage
Engage with all levels of sport to build, healthy active and welcoming communities where every body belongs.
The Impact We're Creating
Through our approach, and with the support of partners more people with disability are finding their place in sport and building healthier, more connected communities.
