CP Football competitions are available for athletes who have cerebral palsy (CP) and who have acquired brain injuries (ABI) that have CP symptoms.
This is a seven a side game that follows the rules of the International Federation of Associated Football (FIFA), with some modifications made to make the game more exciting and to accommodate the disabilities of the athletes. There is no off side law, the field and goals are small and throw-in's may be made with one arm. CP football is governed by Cerebral Palsy International Sports & Recreation Association (CPISRA).
Over the past few months there have been major developments within the National Program. This includes new facebook sites, and twitter sites being created. A new poster has also been created to promote the game around the country.
The team is currently competing at the 2011 CPISRA World Championships in the Netherlands. Unfortunately they will finish outside of the top 7 and will miss out on 2012 Paralympics. The team has achieved some mile stones for this tournament which included their first ever win over Spain. Jared Eiby and Scott Kennedy from QLD have both made their international debut.

CPISRA athletes compete within classification ranges. The classification system ensures an even playing ground for athletes to compete against others with similar abilities. Ambulant athletes with cerebral palsy classes 5, 6, 7 and 8 can participate in Football 7-A-Side.
Classification is based on the athlete's functional profile and the impact of their profile on sport performance to ensure fair competition. New athletes who have never been classified are classified 1-2 days prior to a sanctioned competition.
