Australian Sports Organisation for the Disabled Inc

Nicole L'Efevre (Queensland) was elected President of the Australian Sports Organisation for the Disabled at the organisations recent Annual General Meeting. Nicole replaces Bob Cole in this position.

Wheelchair Sports Australia Ltd

At the recent Wheelchair Sports Australian Annual General Meeting Wayne Robins (Western Australia) was elected to the Board. Wayne joins Barry Barker, Michael Godfrey-Roberts, Phil Tracey and Graeme Watts on the Board.

Wheelchair Sports Australia is currently calling for nominations for the Lord's Taverners Award, which was established in 1985 in recognition of individuals who make a significant contribution to junior wheelchair sport in Australia. The Lord's Taverners Trophy was first awarded in Melbourne at the 3rd National Junior Wheelchair Games by the then President Frank Tyson, a former fast bowler who represented England for many years. A nomination form must be completed detailing the nominees' involvement in junior wheelchair sport. Contact the AAWD Office for further information.

C.P.-I.S.R.A. World Games

The 2005 CP World Games will be held in Connecticut USA from 2- 10 July 2005. Sports offered are Athletics; Cycling; Table Tennis; Bowls; Powerlifting; Swimming and Soccer.

Congratulations to the combined NSW / Victorian team at the Avon National Club Championships, the Caterpillars, who took out first place at the Championships. Congratulations also to Megan Williams (Victoria) who was awarded the Encouragement Award as voted by the players and to Michele Nunn (New Zealand) who was voted Best and Fairest by the referees.


Queensland - Brisbane and Redlands social league programs are coming to a close for the year. These programs have been a great competition for everyone who has competed in them.

Come N' Try Days / Workshops - In the next few months Boccia are looking at setting up in Logan and Redcliffe after conducting a come 'n' try in each of the areas.

Melbourne - A come 'n' try weekend has been organised for the 13 - 14 November 2004. Any one interested in knowing more about it should contact Boccia Victoria on 03 9366 8489.

Cue Sports

Good luck to Danny Novak (Victoria) who will be representing Wheelchair Sports Australia at the World Cue Sports Championships to be held in Chinese Taipei from the 5-10 December 2004.

Lawn Bowls

International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports (IWAS) have announced the IWAS Lawn Bowls Championships scheduled for next year have been cancelled due to a lack of facilities.

New South Wales and Queensland will compete against each other from 13-14 November 2004 at the Sydney Academy of Sport for the title of National CP Soccer Champion. For further information contact the AAWD Office.


David Hall (New South Wales) has clinched the title of ITF World Champion for the sixth time in ten seasons after producing a commanding display of tennis to win his second NEC Wheelchair Masters. Congratulations David!


Barry Couzner has accepted the position of Chairman of the Australian Sports Organisation for the Disabled's Interim National Volleyball Committee.

The 2004 Sitting Volleyball National Championships will be held in Melbourne from 4-5 December 2004. For further information contact the AAWD Office.
