Wheelchair Sports Australia
The 2009 Wheelchair Sports Australia AGM and related meetings will be held in Melbourne in conjunction with the Australian Paralympic Youth Games being held 5-10 October, 2009.
Further information will be made available to member organisations closer to the event.

Wheelchair Basketball
WNWBL and NWBL
The Sydney University Sports and Aquatic Centre will host both the 2009 WNWBL Finals on 5-6 September and the 2009 NWBL Finals on 11-13 September.

U/23 World Championships
Congratulations to the Australian U/23 Wheelchair Basketball team that won a bronze medal at the World Championships held on 7-15 July in Paris.
Rollers World Challenge
The Rollers World Challenge Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Tournament was held on 29 July to 1 August 2009 at the Sports Centre at Sydney Olympic Park. Congratulations to the
Australian Rollers for winning the tournament over Canada (Silver in Beijing), Great Britain (Bronze in Beijing) and Japan.
Boccia
Boccia National Championships
Congratulations to the following players that represented Australia at the 3rd Asia & South Pacific Boccia Championships held on 14-22 August in Hong Kong:- Qld: Fiona Lyons, Lachlan Kavanagh; ACT: Corena Sheridan; NSW: Barry Fear, Ange McReynolds, Cally Simpson; Vic: Gavin Thorneycroft, John Richardson. The Australian team reached the quarter finals.

Cerebral Palsy Football 7-A-Side
Australian Paralympic Youth Games Football Team
Football will be making its first appearance at the Australian Paralympic Youth Games in October 2009 and the various states are working hard towards getting junior teams there. Both NSW and QLD already have sides, but it is hoped that South Australia and Victoria will have sides as well.

Lawn Bowls
The 2010 National Championships will be held in Melbourne on 3-7 May 2010.
The IWAS World Championships will be held in Adelaide in September/October 2010 with exact dates to be announced in the near future. The IBD World Championships will be held in Bloemfontein, South Africa on 3-12 May 2011. Further information about these championships and Australian team selections will be available in due course.
Volleyball
5th ASEAN ParaGames, Kuala Lumpur 2009
Men’s Sitting Volleyball Championship
South Australia’s Barry Couzner, a long-time volleyball devotee, attended the South East Asian countries’ ParaGames event in Kuala Lumpur on 12-21 August. It was the first time that men’s sitting volleyball has been part of the 11-sport ParaGames program.
Barry was a Technical Delegate for the event, representing the World Organisation, Volleyball for Disabled (WOVD), the world governing authority for disability volleyball.
Barry is a member of D-Volleyball SA and Volleyball Australia’s recently formed group, the D-Volleyball Commission.
