Congratulations to the Executive Officer of AAWD, Bianca van Woesik and her husband John on the arrival of daughter Daniella.
Whilst Bianca is on maternity leave Jane Hall will be the Acting Executive Officer of AAWD.

Wheelchair Basketball
National Junior Coach
Basketball Australia in conjunction with Wheelchair Sports Australia are calling for applications for the position of National Junior Wheelchair Basketball Team Head Coach. The head coach will be responsible for the Australian Team that will represent Australia at the World Junior Wheelchair Championships, which will be held in 2009. National Scholarship Coach
Basketball Australia has announced Ben Osborne as the National Scholarship Coach for Wheelchair Basketball. Ben will be working with the New South Wales Institute of Sport's wheelchair basketball program, the National Men's and Women's teams and the APC in their talent identification program.
Gliders
The Gliders have qualified for the 2008 Beijing Paralympics after defeating New Zealand twice and Japan during the Asia Oceania Zone Qualification tournament played in Bankstown.

Round two of the National League was held in Melbourne in early June currently the Hills Hornets from NSW are on top of the ladder:

Rollers
The Australian Men's Wheelchair Basketball team, the Rollers, came within two points of winning an historic Gold medal at the 2007 VISA Paralympic World Cup in Manchester but fell to World and Paralympic Champions Canada, 49-47.
Australia led by eight points with one period to play but Canada produced a spirited comeback to snatch the lead in the waning seconds.
Western Australian Shaun Norris led the Rollers with 15 points while Ness and forward Shaun Groenewegen contributed 9 points and 11 rebounds and 9 points and 10 rebounds apiece.
Despite the loss, the Paralympic World Cup provided the Rollers with the perfect preparation for the Arafura Games in Darwin, where they defeated Iran 75-37 to win the Gold Medal.
Perth's Justin Eveson starred for the Rollers with 19 points and 15 rebounds. After the match he was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
Boccia
Final preparations are under way for the Boccia Nationals to be held in Victoria from 2-7 July
Rugby
Round one of the Telstra National Wheelchair Rugby League will be played in Adelaide from 29 June – 1 July hosted by the South Australian Wheelchair Sports Association. Teams have been finalised and are listed on the NWRL website www.rugby.sports.org.au. A classification forum will be held at round two of the League for further information contact the AAWD Office.
